International Sporting Event | Learning experience: Organisers and participants
THE CHALLENGE
Sustainability emerged as a paramount priority for the 2024 Games for the international organising committee. The Games organisers diligently sought avenues to impart their wealth of knowledge and insights to forthcoming organising bodies.
Despite the wealth of existing learning materials, the pivotal challenge was distilling this abundance into captivating and accessible learning content precisely timed to resonate with future hosts at strategic junctures in the Games’ lifecycle.
STRATEGIC APPROACH
In collaboration with our Belgian partner team, we devised a strategy focused on creating dynamic and impactful learning resources, utilising platforms like online eLearning courses and interactive PDFs.
These tools were meticulously tailored to foster a vibrant and engaged Games community focused on sustainability. Our approach, which focused on critical areas such as sustainable roadmap development, team structuring, internal mobilisation, and collaboration with partners and external stakeholders, was designed to enhance the sustainability efforts of future organising committees progressively.
IMPACTFUL DELIVERY
Our delivery strategy produced a significant impact, empowering learners with a clear understanding of their educational journey and pinpointing essential milestones and priorities vital for advancing the sustainability of the Games.
Our pragmatic, step-by-step approach empowered learners to integrate sustainability into the core of the Games. Drawing on lessons from past Games and aligning with the sustainability goals for future Games, our resources motivated learners to reduce environmental and social impacts while amplifying positive outcomes.
These engaging resources enabled learners to adapt strategies to their specific Games organisation, considering local nuances, available resources, and unique priorities. We aimed to equip learners to effectively leverage existing partnerships and sponsorships to pursue shared sustainable goals.
