Tertiary Education Institute
Activity-Based Work Portal
WHY
An institute relocated its School of Education into a 1962 landmark. The shift to activity-based working risked confusion for students, lecturers and administrative staff. People needed clear rules, wayfinding and confidence from day one.
The client required a support portal that turned Activity-Based Work (ABW) into daily choices. It had to explain principles, set space norms and cover building basics, with campus navigation that worked for diverse users.
HOW
VSLS defined a people-centred strategy grounded in evidence. Interviews and surveys surfaced the needs of students, lecturers and administrators. VSLS mapped journeys to key decisions, aligning messages and wayfinding to cut friction and build confidence in new spaces.
VSLS prototyped and tested with users. Simple rules for navigation, tone and accessibility kept content clear. Embedding ABW principles in guidance and campus channels made support practical from day one.
WHAT
The portal made ABW practical at scale. Clear navigation, interactive 3D maps, and role-based content put building basics, space norms, and campus routes at hand. Responsive design worked across devices and boosted confidence for day-one readiness.
Early signals show higher engagement,
fewer support queries, and faster wayfinding. Impact will be tracked in the first term: visits, task completion, and satisfaction. Insights will guide refinements and sustain adoption across the faculty.
Assets
The interactive model including 3D environments, transforms the university’s complex service ecosystem into an intuitive, clickable experience that brings each stage of the student and staff journey to life.
vsls metrics
The VSLS Metrics framework measures readiness, behaviour change and results.
It turns engagement data into insights that drive continuous improvement and lasting impact.
