Consulting Industry | Viva Glint Approach to Recognition

THE CHALLENGE
In the competitive European labour market, our client recognised the need to address employee engagement and its impact on overall business performance. Through Microsoft Viva Glint, they identified “Recognition”—how employees feel acknowledged and appreciated for their contributions—as a key driver requiring focused attention. Research highlights that recognition is directly linked to motivation, retention, and reduced burnout, with 80% of employees stating they would work harder if they felt better appreciated. To create a workplace where employees thrive, our client sought to implement a change management programme to embed a culture of recognition and improve the overall employee experience.
STRATEGIC APPROACH
In collaboration with Eclectik, a leader in advanced analytics and consulting, we developed a comprehensive programme to address gaps in recognition and enhance employee engagement. Eclectik’s expertise in integrating sentiment data from Microsoft Viva Glint with collaboration data from Viva Insights provided the client with deeper insights into how team dynamics and engagement levels impact the overall employee experience. This data-driven approach ensured the solution was grounded in measurable insights, maximising its effectiveness.
The programme was structured around the ACT framework—Acknowledge, Collaborate, Take one step forward—which fosters trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The strategy focused on three key phases:
- Communication Plan Design: Analysed successful practices, mapped existing resources, and established tools to create a foundation for embedding recognition.
- Customisable Tools and Resources: Delivered tailored communication materials for managers and employees, ensuring recognition became an integral part of daily practices.
- Team Engagement and Training: Rolled out digital platforms, provided targeted training, and implemented initiatives to promote acknowledgement across all organisational levels.
By leveraging data analytics and insights from Viva Glint and Viva Insights, we aligned recognition practices with employee engagement metrics, enabling business leaders to address gaps and amplify positive behaviours.
IMPACTFUL DELIVERY
The programme successfully established a foundation for embedding recognition as a cultural cornerstone. Key deliverables included:
- A suite of communication tools and resources tailored for managers and teams.
- Training sessions for employees to use engagement platforms effectively, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Targeted initiatives to promote a culture of acknowledgement and appreciation.
The impact of this approach will be evaluated in the upcoming Viva Glint engagement survey, which will assess improvements in recognition and broader employee engagement metrics. Early feedback indicates increased employee participation in engagement initiatives, a more positive sentiment around recognition efforts, and strengthened trust in leadership’s commitment to addressing employee needs.
By prioritising recognition, business leaders have taken a decisive step towards fostering a more motivated and engaged workforce.
